Tom,

I recently purchased a replacement CD player for my 1999 Cadillac from a Junk Yard, When installing, the anti theft alert went active.
Can I fix this at home or do I need to take it in to Cadillac with the reciept. I know each radio is coded with the vin #. I do have the vin # assigned to the radio

Answer -
Dale,
The VIN just proves that the stereo belongs to that vehicle. The dealer in most cases will run the VIN and it will show all the options and some numbers that will be used along with the model and serial number of the stereo to see the access code numbers. If you can locate the vehicle in the salvage yard that the stereo came out of, the VIN for that vehicle will help. You may want to contact your local caddie dealer and see what they can do about getting you the access code. You can also try  radio-code.com

Answer
Dale,
Most caddies use an external amp. To use the replacement CD stereo you may need the amp and some of the wiring for it. It may also be that this replacement stereo uses combo amp/speaker assemblies and you will need these units to make the stereo work. Please give me the complete model number of the original factory stereo if you still have it and the model number of the replacement stereo. With these numbers I can get an idea of exactly what you will need.
