Audio Systems: honda tape decks, auto salvage yard, tape decks

Question
I have a 1996 Honda Accord.  The tape deck that came with it broke a long time ago.  I replaced it with an aftermarket cd player that never really worked except for the radio.  I then recieved a factory 2001 Honda civic tape deck.  I found out, when i tried to install it, that the plugs for the civic and accord tape decks are different.  Is there any way to remedy this problem, or am I just going to have to get a factory honda accord deck?  thanks.

Answer
Ryan,
If the newer Honda stereo will physically fit in the dash OK, you can try the following. Stop by an auto salvage yard and cut out of a wrecked vehicle (2001 Honda)the stereo connector/s. next purchase the adapter connector that plugs onto the factory connector in the dash of the 96 Honda. You can ask the local Honda dealer for a print out of the 2001 Honda stereo connector with wire assignments. The adapter connector will have all of the wires marked for what they are used for. Once you have the above info all you need to do now is the correctly connect the power and speaker wires.
