Audio Systems: car radio has poor reception, replacement antenna, poor reception

My car radio does not get certain channels, my favorite one
in particular.  How do I determine what the problem is?  
How do I determine if it's the antennae or the radio?

You may want to purchase a cheapo antenna from WalMart and pull the stereo out of the dash to remove the original antenna and plug the replacement antenna into the stereo. If the stereo will receive OK with the test antenna you will confirm that the original antenna is defective. If for some reason the reception doesn't change the stereo will need to be repaired.
