Audio Systems: noise/static after new head unit/speakers installed, alpine cda 9827, infinity speakers

Static/noise with Alpine cda-9827 and infinity speakers

1)   When driving the car I hear intermittent noise/static when listening to the radio. You can easily pick up this problem with classical music and shows up on other channels. When the car is stationary and the radio is playing there is no noise/static.

2)When balance control is fully set to either the left or right-hand speakers the noise is present so it is on both channels.

3)I have not picked up any noise/static on the cd player feature.

4)The Alpine head unit was replaced and did not resolve the problem.

Never had any problems with static with the stock Mitsubishi head unit and speakers.

The problem may be due to a loose or corroded ground for the antenna. The stereo may also be picking up electrical noise from the engine computer or electric motors such as the heater and wiper motors.
