Audio Systems: 6 CD Charger in Mazda MPV, 2000 mazda mpv, mazda mpv

Question
I own a 2000 Mazda MPV ES with a factory 6 CD changer. About a year ago the CD player stopped working and spit out all the CD's.
I read that this is a well-known issue in Mazda cars and there is not much to do part of replacing the unit. Is it true?
If yes, how can I replace it?

What about the possibility of adding an external MP3 player instead of replacing the changer? What kind of wiring needs to be done?

Thanks,
Shlomo

Answer
Shlomo,
The least expensive way to go would be to install a trunk mounted changer that you send the audio from the changer into the stereo by the antenna cable/wire going into the stereo. On some of the RF adapter units that hook up to the antenna wire they will have external audio inputs on them so you can connect up an MP3 player.
