Audio Systems: Single output head unit to a dual input amp, rca inputs, dual outputs

Question
Hi,

My CD head unit has one set of phono outputs and the amp I have has two inputs marked front input and rear input. The amp works with either set of inputs connected to the head unit but the sound is not "balanced" with either - it is much more bassy when the rear input is used and much more trebly when the front is used. Do I need a head unit with dual outputs or can I connect the one I have to both inputs somehow via some sort of splitter to get a balanced sound?

Answer
Ian,
When you say that your head unit has one set of outputs, do you mean one pair for left and right? As for the amp does it have four RCA inputs? left and right front and left and right rear. Give me the make and model number of the amp so I can look up the specs on the amp.
