Audio Systems: kenwood deck malfunction, 1987 bmw 325, auto repair shop

Question
I have a 1987 BMW 325 in wich i tried installind a Kenwood KDC-216s CD player into. When I hooked up the wiring the deck keeps turning on and off constantly. I Tried rewiring the deck but the problem persisted so i hooked the deck up in a 91 acura integra and the same problem occured leading me to belive its the deck. I kept playing with the deck and i could get it to stay on the radio but as soon as i'de put in a cd the problem would occur again. I work at a auto repair shop and i had the other mechanics check my wiring so it has to be the deck if you have any info on this it would be greatly appreciated.

Answer
Kevin,
You may want to put the Kenwood stereo on the work bench and connect the hot and memory wires together and hook those to 12 volts and then see if the stereo will turn on and stay on. If the stereo does stay on the problem may be due to the way the stereo is connected to the BMW wiring.
