QuestionI bought a 1971 350sl from a lady that left it sitting for 2 yrs. I drained the bad gas, replaced the spark plugs, replaced the fuel pump and filter as well as the air filter. Also I changed the oil and the filter and flushed the radiator. The car drives like a dream for 10 minutes the starts to have problems with acceleration. Not too noticeable at higher speeds until you try to pass somebody or you hit a stop light and try to take off. If i turn the car off for 5 minutes it starts up and drives again good for a few minutes but then returns to the same problem. Any ideas?
Answersweet car , I have a72. It pays to be handy with a wrench when you own these cars, they are wonderful machines

several actually, these D Jet systems can be tricky
Have you checked ,cleaned and set trigger points and points ( this has two sets)
Dwell, timing - checked - set to specs?
Eliminated any and all vacuum leaks - any rubber hoses cracked? this car is extremely vacuum dependent
Injectors - pop tested ? cleaned - renewed ( I suspect this may be your actual issue)
Auxillary air valve functioning?
What color are the plug tips? Have they been set to proper gap?
Let me know this and we can go from there
