Audio Systems: 91 toyota landcruiser stereo blows fuses, amp fuse, toyota landcruiser

Question
on my 91 toyota landcruiser the aftermarket stereo keeps blowing my fuse. After I have tried a few time over and over the fuse (7.5 fues) blows and when I plug in a higher fuse a 10 fuse or 15 fuse some thing from uner my glove box starts to smoke and that when I unplug the fuse. What do you think is wrong?

Answer
Daniel,
The 7.5 amp fuse that is blowing is protecting the wiring in your vehicle from going up in smoke. Putting a 10 amp and a 15 amp fuse caused the wiring to burn at not blow the fuse as a 7.5 amp that was suppose to! The cause of the fuse blowing may be due to a short in the stereo or in the vehicle wiring. Note, if a fuse blows and you replace it and the correct fuse blows again it is telling you that something is wrong somewhere, putting in a larger than what is intended isn't going to FIX the problem it is only going to cause MORE damage to the unit or the wiring to it!
