Audio Systems: Upgrading my cars factory system with after market components, kia rio cinco, kia rio

Question
I have a 2003 KIA Rio Cinco that has the factory CD/AM FM stereo, 4 speaker system. What I'd like to do is use the existing receiver and add an amplifier and upgrade the speakers (to coaxials). Is that feasible to do it that way? There's nothing wrong with the receiver (that I'm aware of). I'd just like to be able to boost the sound and increase the range of separation. I don't want to add any sub woofer. I think the 6 1/2" rear speakers will be enough bass for me. What do you think? Are there any instructions available to show me how to install an amp correctly to get the full benefit out of it? If this is NOT the way to go, what do you suggest? Are there kits available to make this installation easy for me to do?

Thanks,

Answer
Kim,
You will first have to find out if the stereo uses an external amp. If it isn't a premium system it may not use an amp. For you to install an amp you will need a high(speaker level) to low level (RCA) adapter. This adapter will allow you to tap into the factory stereo speaker wires without damaging the factory stereo. The RCA outputs will plug into the amp.
