Audio Systems: speaker wattage, peak power output, 6x9 speakers

Question
Is there any way to tell how much wattage is coming from your amp speaker wires going into your speakers? I've blown 2 set of tweeters in my 6x9 speakers. I've got the amp set about 1/3power.It's set on high pass to keep the bass out of tweeters.Kinda getting expensive replacing tweeters. Thanks for any help.

Answer
David,
To measure the power output you will need a volt meter that will show you and allow you to lock onto the peak output voltage. To get average power you can use the formula E squared divided by the resistance of the speaker 8 ohm or 4 ohms. Your best bet is the purchase speakers that are rated above the max peak power output of the amp.
