Answer -
Kenn,
It's possible that corrosion may have gotten into the stereo and fouled things up? The problem may be with the front panel control board. Please give me the model number of the kenwood stereo and I will look over the service manual for some clues to the problem.

Sorry it took so long to get back to you.  The holidays you know...
The stereo is a Kenwood model KDC 122.  Still can't get the disc out.  Looking forward to your reply.
Thanks,
Kenn

Answer
Kenn,
It's possible that some kind of a surge on the power wire to the stereo may have jumbled the processor. You may want to try disconnecting the battery and then reconnecting it to see if a full reset will make the stereo work normal again. If this doesn't help the stereo may need to be serviced.
