Audio Systems: Cadillac Bose System, cadillac seville, bose system

I have a 1994 Cadillac Seville with the Bose "Gold Series".  The CD player stopped working - "err" message & won't eject a CD.  Can I replace the CD unit myself? and, if so, where do I find a replacement unit?  I am comfortable in removing & rplacing the system.

On some CD stereos you can just replace the laser pickup if weak or defective. You can also replace the complete CD assembly yourself, however if available it would cost around $300! have you tried doing a manual cleaning of the laser lens? You can use a Qtip dampened with rubbing alcohol and gently rub the lens to clean it. To locate repair parts you may want to try looking for Delco Repair parts.
