Audio Systems: installing a jvc on a buick century 1988, car parts stores, radio wires

Question
hi,could you help me?
I want to install a jvc radio cd player (model: kd-s50) on a buick century 1988, the problem is  the color code, cos is not the same, i haven t a technical cheet about the color of the radio wires of the car, and the other problem is that the orginal radio was plug with 12 wires: 8 for the speakers , and 4 that i don t know what they use for, and i can t identify the ground and the battery one is orange, and the other is brown, on the jvc the black is ground and battery is yellow, i tried to plug black with brown and yellow with orange, but it doesnt work when i tried to start the radio just to see if it work(without plug the others wires, speakers and else), could you tell me how i must plug the wires on the jvc so that it could work, if you know it?

Answer
Mathieu,
You will need a 12 volt test lamp, about $5 at most car parts stores. With the test lamp locate a wire in the cars harness that is hot,12volts with the key off and connect this wire to the yellow wire in the JVC harness. Next locate a wire that goes to 12 volts with the key on! and connect this wire to the red wire in the JVC harness. Ground the black wire from the stereo to the vehicle ground, somewhere under the dash.
