Audio Systems: Setting a code for my car stereo., 4 digits, preset buttons

Hello Tom, My VW Golf 97, has a VW antitheft stereo showing SAFE condition after a battery disconection.
I got the 4 digits code, but I don't know what buttons I must press.
I was looking for some information about this stereo on the web it looks like a Bose stereo.
Could you help me with this?
I couldn't change my stereo from the SAFE condition.

On many of these stereos you will need to use the first four preset buttons to enter the code. Press button 1 until the first code number is displayed, button 2 for the second number and so on until the four digit code in displayed. Next press and hold power button until the radio comes on. You may want to call your local VW dealer and ask the correct procedure for your stereo.
