Audio Systems: radio noise, stereo head unit, radio noise

I have a 1990 chevy pick-up with a am/fm cassette and equilizer which gives a high whining sound through the speakers. I have replaced tha alternator but still have a high whinging noise.I have tried a noise suppresion device from radio shack but this did not help. Any suggestions?

Please give me the complete model numbers of the stereo and of the amp if one is installed. Also is this sound system a factory premium unit?

Tom this is the original factory installed radio.I believe it would be delco.

For the year 1990 the factory had about 10-12 combinations of stereos, amps and other units that were installed. I need the complete model off the stereo head unit to ID the system in your vehicle to give you any info about your system! you will NEED to pull the stereo out of the dash to see the sticker on the stereo with the model numbers on it!As I said before the model number will tell what service manual to look at.
