Audio Systems: VW cd Changer, vw jetta, rubbing alcohol

I purchased a 6 cd changer, 2002 VW beetle model, and put it in a 2000 vw jetta. It changes all 6 cds, I can see the red light, which I assume is the lazer. Looks at each cd and the first track and then displays CD ERR. Wonder what the problem is.

The laser in the CD changer is infrared and your eyes cannot see infrared light! The light may be some sort of a power indicator light. Try cleaning the lens of the laser pickup with a Qtip dampened with rubbing alcohol. If a cleaning does not cure the problem the CD changer will need to be repaired.
