Audio Systems: Car Radio, rf amp, car radio

Question
I have a car radio(cd player) from Pioneer. And just yesterday it started working really weird. When I turn the radio on- it works, I hear the radio but after a few seconds the station fades and all I hear is static. Then I turn it off and then back on and I hear the station again for a couple of seconds, until it starts fading away into static again. Any suggestions why it does that?

Most likely something in the tuner module is heating up and failing. Have you tested the AM receiver to see if it still works OK? I have repaired many of these stereos with the same problem, most have had a failing RF amp transistor and others had a capacitor that when it failed it cut off the DC supply voltage to the tuner.
