Audio Systems: 98 ford taurus, rca cable, ford taurus

Question
Hi,

I was hooking up my subwoofers and amplifier when I pulled at the RCA cable and I got a huge pop from the speakers. It seems that I sent to much power from the amplifier to the speakers. And from then on I got a constant clicking from all of the speakers. So I figured that I blew the speakers, but when I went and hooked up a new spearker the clicking was in the new speaker. So I'm not sure what I did, and I don't know what to do to fix it.

Thanks

Answer
Joe,
When you pulled out the RCA cable, it may have caused an over load that damaged the amplifier. The clicking noise could be due to the power supply in the amp starting up and then shutting down because a transistor has shorted out.
