Audio Systems: Installing New JVc into 1967 Mustang, fuse panel, yellow stripe

Question
I am trying to install a new JVC radio into a 1967 Mustang. The existing connection had a Black w/ yellow stripe wire and two blue with red stripe wires, From reading the wiring diagram of the car the yellow and black wire is going into the fuse panel and comes out and goes to the ignition. The first blue and red stripe wires goes to a headlight cluster and the other isn't clear to where it goes. I hooked up the power from radio (Red) to the Black w/ Yellow Stripe. I grounded the Black to metal. I tried to turn the radio on and it didn't work. The are four main wires not including the speakers coming from the radio. Red, Yellow, Black and Blue.

Am I doing this correctly?

Thanks

Jerry

Answer
Jerry,
As long as you hook up the red wire from the stereo to the ignition and the yellow to the 12 hot at all times and black the ground, your stereo should work. The blue wire is for turning on an amp if you have one installed. look at the wiring diagram and see what wire is hot at all times and connect this to the yellow wire and see what wire is switched from the ignition and connect this to the red wire.
