Audio Systems: Static truck radio left channel, chevy pickup, radio model

Question
The Radio model # 16084245 Ser #1258194  Equalizer/Cassette model # 16084945 Ser # 1261841. I also found out today this ETR radio has a third box that the radio and Equ/Cassette is hooked into. This ETR might be an amp of some kind. Is it also possible to have a blown speaker some where? Thank you for all your previous and future help.  Charlie  -------------------------

Question -
I have a 89 Chevy Pickup with an ETR am-fm stereo with four speakers and cassette. I turn radio on, vol down and I have this loud static from left channel. I have to turn vol up loud to over ride the static. Static stays loud. What do I need to do or look at?

Answer -
Charlie,
Please give me the complete model number off the stereo. With the model number I can give you an idea of where the problem may be located.

Answer
Charlie,
The system in your vehicle is a three box system. A control head, the cassette unit and the Tuner processor box. The tuner processor box also has the audio output amps in it. On many of these stereos I find defective capacitors that will cause noise in the speakers. You may want to switch the speakers around to see if the left speaker is faulty.
