Audio Systems: Kenwood amp and sony stereo, amp circuitry, kenwood amp

Question
I have a sony x-plod which decided to do just that not long ago... i was tinkering with my 600w coustic amp and connected the wires to a speaker that had wires from the stereo ran, i cut the key on and heard a ring cut it off, then found my mistake... but it was to late.  The stereo still turns on and even plays through the rca's fine but the stereo isn't amping any reguler speakers on its on.. HELP!!   iv been doing alot of tinkering with circuitry latly but im no expert... any advice would be helpful id like to fix it myself if possible.. and my next question is about a kenwood amp. (not the cause of the stereo.) I have used this amp for some time, and it just started to cut out, leaving no sound.  even at the lowest of levels it doesn't work normal.. the number is KAC-606... thanks for your time, look forward to hearing from you... Ian

Answer
ouch!! sounds like you blew the power amp circuitry. if it has ic outputs,(stk something printed on large ic's mounted to metal plate or heat sink) you possibly can order them and replace them. if discreet transistor outouts, they're probably bad along with other components, making it almost impossible to fix, unless you possess the skills and service literature to id and replace parts. my honest opinion, either take it to a service center or better yet, simply replace unit...sorry, but there's no 'simple fix' here....G.....
