Audio Systems: speakers, nissan maxima, amp circuit

I own a 96 Nissan Maxima. Everything is stock. The front right door speaker "crackles" when the volume is turned up slightly, particularly if the bass is turned up.
Do I need to replace the speaker or can it be adjusted or repaired?

Jim,
Your stereo system may be a Bose audio system. If your system is a Bose system the problem of the speaker making noise may be due to a defective amp circuit board mounted at the speaker location. If your sound system isn't a Bose system your speaker may be dry rotted or have a torn cone.
