Audio Systems: car radio a/m static, noise eliminator, radio shack

Question
when i try to listen to a/m on my car radio i get nothing but static. If i turn the engine off then it comes in loud and clear. i bought a new radio and it does the same thing. i have a 1988 chevy 8 cyl truck.

Answer
John,

sometimes on older vehicles radios pick up interferrence from all kinds of sources on the running engine , the best cure is a noise eliminator box / or distortion block which you can pick up for around 10 bucks at local radio shack and wire in .. that should cure your problem .. hope this helps you out if you need anything else let me know

thanks
