Audio Systems: car radio, fuse one, fuse block

Question
recently my car battery was installed backwards and as a result, my radio quit working. It has power but no sound. I replaced the radio with a new one and it was the same thing, power but no sound, where do I look next?

Answer
Diane,

.. you might have blown your speakers or if you have a factory amp'd system could have damaged the amp, but we will start small ..go to your fuse block and pull out each and every fuse one at a time and check for blows replace as needed check ALL fuses not just radio related ones ... this should cure your problem ... if not you should give your manufactor's customer help line a call and find out if you have a factory amplifier .. then you will have to take it to a shop for testing and possible replacement .. now if you dont have a factory amp you need to test your speaker .. pull one out and unhook it then do a quick wire to a home stereo or other stereo to test the speaker .. if it works then you might have melted some wires so i would suggest again a good local install shop or dealer ... hope this helps you out if you need anything els elet me know

thanks
