Audio Systems: Mitsubishi car radio FM problem, fm tuner module, mercury villager

I bought a used Mitsibshi AM/FM cassette(Model# MB943292) with CD player(Model# MB894794). It is 2 single DIN units(CD player separate). When I plugged it into my car(a Mercury Villager) using a harness install plug, everything worked fine except the FM reception. You can pick up the stations but there is a lot of static and the reception is very bad. AM works fine. Is there something I've missed or could the radio just be bad. Thanks for any help.

If the AM reception is OK, then the antenna is alright. The problem may be with the FM section in the stereo. The fault could be with the front end of the FM tuner module or with the stereo decoder section.
