Audio Systems: amp problem, power amp, chance thanks

Question
i have a 1992 honda civic. i have had a 4 ch. amp for about a year now and it has been great. i recently just installed another 2 ch amp and a subwoofer. my problem is when i turn the volume up past 16( top volume is 40, and i usually set it at 25) the 4 ch amp cuts off and i have to turn the head unit to a lower volume to get the amp back on. i am not to sure if i have to power amp turn on connected correctly or if it is something else.i switched the two 8 guages from the battery and ran a 4 gauge to the 8 gauges, which now go to the amps.  please respond when you get a chance. thanks.

Answer
Jonathan,
Several things may be causing the problem with your amp, 1-the gain control on the amp is turned up too high. 2-the power supply wires are too small. 3-the battery and/or alternator cannot supply enought power to run the amp. You may also want to double check all your connections to be sure no speaker wires are grounded out.
