Audio Systems: Intalling Pioneer DEH-2100 Radio, pioneer deh 2100, fuse one

Question
Hi Cody,

I recently tried to install an after-market Pioneer DEH-2100 car stereo in my 1995 Toyota Tercel.  I thought I did every right, but when I turn on the ignition, I don't seem to be getting any power to the radio.  I previously had a Panasonic xxxx car stereo, and removed it to install the Pioneer.  I cut the existing wires that were originally connected to the Panasonic, and split it with the new Pioneer radio, but for some reason, it doesn't seem to be working.  I checked all of the fuses, as well as I used a test light on the wires, everything is good to go.  I'm at a lost on why the radio is not working.  I know 100% that the radio was working before I tried to install it in my car.  Is there some sort of trick to get the radio working.  Any information you could provide would be great.  Thanks.

Answer
Jon,

ok the first thing you should not have done was cut the wires, unless it was the wires toa  wire harness adapter which is what should of been used.. but no problems look at www.streetdreams.com/wires they should have a color code chart for your car so you can double check all of your wiring .. now also check the fuse in the back of the unit and check the fuses in your cars fuse block pull out each and every fuse one at a time and check for blows check ALL fuses not just radio related ones... now if none of this gets the problem fixed check the unit to make sure it actually works pull it out and run 2 leds directly from the battery's + post and wire to the 12volt ignition wire and 12 volt constant wire and use the ground wire to the body of the vehicle .. if the unit fails to turn on if the unit does turn on you might have a bigger problem in your wiring .. hope this helps you out if you need anything else let me know

thanks
