where is the oil drain plug for a 1996 honda shadow 600 vlx

If my memory is not completely shot
I believe the drain plug is on
the bottom left side of the engine.
It should be a 14mm bolt and will be pointing
to the side rather than downward.
It takes between 2.3 and 3.0 US quarts depending
on how dry it is. I suggest warming it up
a bit, draining it and replacing the oil filter.

Tighten the drain plug to about 20 ft-lbs, don't strip it.
add two quarts of oil. Run it briefly to circulate the oil,
let it sit a moment, then check the oil level
and add oil as necessary to bring it up
to the full mark.
Have the bike level when checking the oil.
