Audio Systems: 1998 Honda Civic replaced system...now what?, honda company, keyless entry system

Question
I had a tape deck, front speakers and 6-disk changer (all brandname: Clarion) professionally installed into my 1998 Honda Civic.  My Civic's Honda system had been giving me problems for the entire 6 years I've owned it, with increasing static, fuzziness and distorted sound when playing CD's, especially in hot weather.  I've met other Honda Civic owners who tell me that this has been a problem for them as well.  The stereo has been "fixed" by Honda 3 times at least, and the problem always came back.  So I gave up and decided to get a professional system put in.

Now I have several problems:

1.  The dome light won't work when the doors open and close as it should.
2.  The keyless entry system no longer works.
3.  When playing CD's, the tracks will switch "randomly" on one disc.  For example, you will hear the first 2 tracks of a CD, then it will skip to track 8, play 2 or 3 tracks in order, then skip backward to track 4, then skip to track 13 and play until the end of the CD.

I have heard that at least the dome light problem is something I should have expected and cannot be fixed.  "Punishment for going outside the Honda company" a friend said.  Is this something I should have expected?  Are the other problems something I should have expected?  Is it a problem with the stereo panel or the 6-disc changer?  How much did the Clarion installers mess around with my electrical system?  Should I go to them to fix the first two problems or to Honda?  Thank you for your help.

Answer
Melissa,

it sounds like you let an idiot install the system i hate getting emails like this because i really feel for you when the problems hit.. now i dont know how long it has been since they did the install but i would recommend taking it back and demanding they fix everything, the dome light should be working along with the keyless and everything else, the changer problem sounds like a defect in equipment so that doenst seem due to a misinstall, but you really should make the installers fix this out of their pockets, if that doenst work out take the car to a qualified install shop *ask around the good shops are known* let them tear into it and see what they can get done for you.. from what you explained it sounds like they really have hacked away at your wiring system so be prepared to pay good money for a fix, especially if they chopped on any main harness's * which i feel they have since the keyless doenst work* ... i'm sorry i cant help you out its more than i can explain i would have to be there and actually work on the car so try taking it back to the shop first.. i hope this helps you out if you need anything else let me know

thanks
