Audio Systems: 2000 mustang gt, rca plugs, ford mustang

Question
Hi my problem is im trying to install and aftermarket amp in a 2000 mustang gt convertable. The stereo is mach 460. the car has 3 stock amps already, 2 in the back fo bass (low level) and on in the dash (high level) both high and low level amps power 4 speakers (8 total) I am keeping the stock deck and i am trying to find a signal for my amp do you know what wires it is? Also i am using an amp without high level inputs, do i need a line out converter or can i just use rca's that have rca plugs on one side and speaker wire ends on the other.

Answer
Craig,

we will start with the easy stuff first , you will need the converter if your amp has no place for the hi level's , now here is the catch , when you are working with amplified systems * i have 2001 Z28 with Monsoon* the wiring is never what it seems , there is always more wires going to speakers that arent used , the factory really make a mess of things.. what you need is a schematic that can tell you what wires are what so you know what to tap into .. i standard ford mustang diagram should give you some help to locate the speaker wires you need for the converter box , and the 12volt ignition wire to turn on the amp , from there everything else is either chassis or battery... look at www.streetdreams.com/wires they should have something to help you out.. you might also try radio shack or circuit city for some diagrams sometimes they can print you a page off with the info.. hope this helps you out if you need anything else let me know

thanks
