Car Alarms: panic alarm., keyless entry pad, panic feature

I am adding a remote start to my 2006 chevy p/u.  I would like to continue to use my current keyless entry pad and use the panic button for the starter.  Is there any way to disarm the panic feature on the truck.

The panic feature is not user selectable.  You would not be able to add remote start using the panic button to activate the unit.  You may however be able to add it using the factory remote control by monitoring the lock leg of the driver's door lock actuator.  The DEI pieces I use offer this feature, and when the owner wishes to use the factory remote, I set the activation input to three pulses.  If the starter sees three pulses on the positive activation input within a few seconds it activates.  Most brands of starters offer some type of activation input.  If your remote control still locks and unlocks the truck when it is running by the key then this is an option you can use.
