Audio Systems: Nissan Maxima - Speaker Swap, bose sound system, bose subwoofer

Question
Hi Cody,

Thank you for taking the time to answer my question.  I recently bought a 2002 Nissan Maxima with a Bose sound system - 6 CD changer, 2 tweeters, 2 front and 2 rear door speakers, and a amp in the trunk -- all bose.  I'm missing a bose subwoofer that I think goes with the amp.  Can I substitute this missing subwoofer with any other subwoofer?  If so, how can I do so because there's 5-6 unconnected wires coming from the bose unit and amp when I only see 2 connections on a subwoofer.  What can I do to make this substitute work?  If not, what can I do to replace to missing bose?

Thanks,
Benji

Answer
Benji,

most factory amp'd systems have a whole mess of wires that get very confusing when you try to mend aftermarket with them, all of your speakers will have say 4 or more wires running to them , some are power wires, some are direct grounds, some are actual speaker leds, its a mess unless you have a diagram, the best option and what i would do is give BOSE a call see if they can give you a schematic diagram to help with the wiring or recommend a subwoofer that will connect directly , also you might try talking to your nissan dealer to see if they can order the subwoofer that should be there, .. hope this helps you out if you need anything else let me know

thanks
