I have an 94 Toyota Camry with oringinal cassete. The casette just clicks when I put a cassette in it.the sound is OK. and there is no problem when fast rewinding.  What is wrong? What's the fix? thank you inadvance.

Zhenwei,
The problem may be a broken belt if the unit is clicking back and forth. Give me some details about the tape deck clicking and if the tape plays good sound!

Tom:
The music is fine when it plays. however, there is continous clicking so you cannot enjoy it. when i try fast rewinding and fast-forward, there is no clicking noise. when rewinding/FF is done, the noice come back. For playing, there's always some clicking noice. by the way, if the belt is broken, can you give some advice how to fix it? thanks alot.

Zhenwei,
If the tape deck is playing the main belt is OK. The clicking noise that you hear, is it from the speakers or from the inside of the tape deck? If the noise if from inside the tape deck, the problem may be due to a cracked gear or defective clutch unit. Lastly where do you live? in the USA?

the noice is from inside the tape deck. Can you give me some suggestion how to fix it? thanks a lot.by the way, I'm an international students and live in Ohio.

Answer
Zhenwei,
To find out what is broken you will have to open up the tape player and insert a tape to see what is making the noise. You may see a cracked gear, a misalignment of the idler assembly or any number of moving parts that are making the noise. lastly, if you do not feel as if you can repair the tape deck you may want to look around at some auto salvage yards to see if they will have a used replacement stereo for your vehicle.
