Audio Systems: sony stereo receiver, stereo receivers, sony stereo

Question
hi~

i have a sony str-7015 stereo receiver.  when i  listen to it through my headphones, both stereo sides work just fine.  however, when i try to listen to the speakers, only the right side of the speakers works.  i have tried hooking up my CD PLAYER AND my CASSETTE PLAYER, but I still ONLY GET SOUND OUT of the right speakers.  i have tried connecting the receiver to both the "A speakers" and the "B speakers," but the result is the same:  no sound coming out of the left side.  i remember, back in the day, that some stereo receivers had fuses for the right and left side of the speakers.  when one side of the speakers didn't work, you could change the fuse that was located on the back of the receiver, and the speaker would work again.  do you think there is a "left channel speaker fuse"  located inside the receiver somewhere that i could replace and make the left side of the speakers work?  or am i way off base?

please advise.

thanks~

Answer
Dear mgee,

No, I don't think you're way off base, but without a user's manual, I wouldn't have the faintest idea of where any kind of user servicable fuse could be located. The 7015 is a pretty old model. You might want to try to find a manual on e-bay. Your other option is to take the unit in to a repair shop and see if they'll diagnose it cheaply. However, repair shops rarely touch old stuff without it costing you something, generally 1/2 hour's labor.

Y'know, Sony makes some pretty darned good A/V receivers for $200-$300. You might want to take a look at them.

Good luck. And thanks for choosing allexperts.com!

Kindest regards,
