Audio Systems: car radio, bump in the road, factory radio

Question
all four speakers don't work at same time unless I adjust volume up or down or jiggle volume knob. speakers will then static,"like am radio does during a thunder storm" and then work fine, until I hit a bump in the road and then I have to adjust all over again. sometimes it's the front sometimes back, left or right. this is factory radio and i've never tampered with it. thanks, rick

Answer
Ricky,

you need to replace the stock unit, you didnt state the age of the unit but most factory decks under moderate use are good for around 5-8 years some will outlast the car, but in most cases they have a narrow lifespan, what more than likly is causing your problem is some loose connections on the inside the unit, this would explain the static you get and also the cutting out and fading from speaker to speaker... i would suggest a good aftermarket unit that fits your sound needs .. along with a dash install kit and adapter harness which can be purcahsed from radio shack for around 8-10 each .. the dash kit will give you the full instructions you need to remove the old unit and install the new one , the adapter allows you to keep the wiring simple and professional it will wire into your new units harness color for color then simply plug back into your factory plug .. hope this helps you out if you need anything else let me know

thanks
