Audio Systems: ford radios, antenna booster, oem units

Question
Cody;
Have 1990 Tempo & 96' Explorer. FM works great on both - AM sucks on both (static on all but the closest  stations). Is there a filter/condensor or ?, available? My Chev and jeep radios pull the stations in question, in, with little static.

Live in the country (S.E. Ohio).

Could it be a matter of peaking the Ford radios, if so, how? Is this an inherit problem with Fords? Need some help -
THANX,
Joe

Answer
Joe,

 it is a very common problem with fords from where i'm sitting, i get alot of questions about poor reception both AM and FM , with no real explanation except the OEM units.. the best thing you do is pick up a antenna booster 10-30 bucks from your local radio shack or i think even wal-mart has them now, hook this up and it should help bring in those stations... hope this helps you out if you need anything else let me know

thanks
