Audio Systems: sterep, relay circuit, ac unit

Question
I have a 1997 cavalier which seems to be doing something weird. When i play my stereo and have the air conditioning going when i stop at a light or stop completely the stereo will go off then come back on. However, when i am driving i can have both on at the same time with no problems.. What is happening?

Thats a hard question to answer without seeing the problem for myself. If the stereo is an aftermarket unit, the person who installed it may have connected it to the AC control relay circuit. On some cars when the AC is on and you stop, the AC unit clutch will turn off so you can have a fast take off from a dead stop? How does the stereo operate with the AC turned off, and you are starting and stopping?
