Audio Systems: Toyota CD player, toyota camry, toyota vehicles

Question
My daughter tells me that she has been experiencing a "scratchy, like you're changing radio stations" sound when she's been playing her cds in my factory installed original equipment cd player in a 2001 Toyota Camry. I can not locate a brand name.
It doesn't happen right away. She says after about 10 minutes of use, the noise starts. She claims it's not her cds because they play fine on her player at the house.
I've never cleaned the unit. Can I clean it? With what? Is it possible it's over heating? Any suggestions? Thank you

Answer
Karen,
You can use a CD cleaner disc, this should clean the laser lense. It really hard to say what may be causing the problem without listening to it myself. The noise could be coming from the CD unit or from one or more of the speaker amps failing(if this vehicle has them) I find that on many of the Toyota vehicles that they use these amps and they always seem to fail causing all kinds of strange noises in the speakers.
