Audio Systems: Car stereo/amp, stereo amp, level outputs

Question
I have a JVC Cassette deck (Model KS-FX12)with a remote 12 disk changer (also JVC). The stereo doesn't have LINE OUTs, just the wires for the 4 speakers. Can I install an amplifier with this radio using the rear speaker out leads as the inputs for the amp?
Will this damage the stereo or the amp, being that the supplied signal will be at min. 16 watts and a max. of 40 watts for each rear channel (Left and Right.
I am installing this in a 1987 full size GM wagon.

Answer
Hello Matt,
You will need a line level convertor that will take the speaker level outputs and convert them to a low level that you can plug into the amp. You can purchase this convertor at Radio Shack.
