Audio Systems: AMP INSTALTION, watts rms, rca outputs

Question
I WAS HAVING A PROBLEM WITH THE RIGHT REAR SPEAKER CUTTING IN AND OUT WHILE I WAS USING THE REGULAR CONNETIONS

OF MY STEREO ( PIONEER WITH WITH TWO RCA OUTPUTS) SINCE I WAS GOING OUT OF TOWN I DID

NOT HAVE TIME TO HAVE IT TAKEN TO A REPAIR SHOP SO

I CONNECTED A SMALL AMP TO THE STEREO TO DRIVE THE

REAR SPEAKERS INSTEAD OF THE REGULAR SPEAKER CONNECTION.  THE AMP IS ONLY 60 WATTS AND THE

SPEAKERS ARE PIONEER 120 WATTS.  THEY PLAY BUT  I

HAVE TO TURN THE VOL. UP VERY HI AND IF I TRY TO

BALANCE THE SPEAKERS FROM FRONT TO BACK THE FRONT

DOMANATE THE SOUND. SHOULD I AJUST THE GAIN ON THE

AMP TO GET THE PROPER VOL.

Answer
D.D.

since you are using an under powered amp turn your head unit up at the usual listening level and start with your gain all the way down then adjust up until you get distortion or sound quality gets worse .. now like i said before you have a 60 watt amp that gets about half of that in RMS now if the pioneers have 120 max about have of that is RMS so you have 60 watts RMS possible and only pushing 30 RMS .. its a decent amount but like you said doesnt have the sound you used to... hope this helps you out if you need anything else let me know

thanks
