Audio Systems: Poor Sound, fuse block, cigarette lighter

Question
I recently installed a Kenwood after market stereo in in 1997 Dodge Stratus.  I am getting very poor sound from the stereo.  It sounds like it is in Mono eventhough it is in stero.  The cigarette lighter and the horn are also no longer working.  I replaced the fuse the horn worked for awhile, but went out again.  Now if I replace the fuse it no longer makes any difference.

Answer
David,

ok i hope you used a wire harness adapter if you didnt and you cut off the factory plug that could be a very good explanation of the problems unless you had an accurate diagram to follow .. now if you can wire the plug back on color for color and stop by radio shack and pick up an adapter for your car this will wire up usually color for color to your kenwoods harness then plug into your factory plug .. if you cant wire the plug back on go to www.streetdreams.com/wires/ they have a good sized list of wire schematics that should help you double chek all your wiring .. now if you didnt clip the plug off and you used the adapter go back over ALL of your wiring even unwire and double check then wire back .. use the diagram in the link i gave you to see what wires you need and what ones you dont sometimes hooking up one wire that isnt needed can cause the whole system to go haywire.. also make sure you have a ground since you are blowing fuses you really need to give a good check around to make sure both the wires are seperated from each other and wrapped good with electric tape and that the unit itself isnt arching or grounding out form anything in the dash .. now also go to your fuse block and pull out each and every fuse and check for blows replace as you need .. check ALL fuses not just the radio related ones or the trouble ones check them all ... i hope this helps you out if you need anything else let me know

thanks
