Audio Systems: blaupunkt radio for blaupunkt cassette, vw passatt, mercedes 308

I'm working on a mercedes 308 delivery truck with factory installed blaupunkt radio I just purchased a used blaupunkt cassette player [Beta CC (M158)]from a VW passatt. Truck original is very basic two speakers each with own(+,-)and power (12v +), ground (-)and antenae plug. same plastic plug hook up for newer cassette player. wiring diagram seems to line up with old tuner (ie power +,-, and speakers all match). lots of extra connections for things on newer player but not hooked up to anything in trucks plug.

what's the problem?
I tried just plugging new into truck. display lit up on new player. No sound. I pushed some buttons and then new player's fuse blew. No sound at all. now I need to get new 5v fuse. not sure what problem is though can you help?

Old player still works. by the way it has a 3v fuse.

Hello Hugh,
Is the original tape player the same model number as the second tape player? If this is the case or if the second tape player plugs into the same connectors, I would think that the second tape player is defective. You may want to remove the covers off the new/second tape player and see what happens when you insert a tape. It may be that the belt is broken and it is wound around the cassette motor jamming it up and causing the fuse to blow. Contact me direct about repairing your cassette players.
