Audio Systems: replacing a stolen radio, aftermarket stereo, factory radio

Question
How do I secure it into the dash?  The hole is the same size so a dash kit won't be necessary.

I have a 93 T-bird.  In January I had the factory radio replaced with a new CD/radio unit.  In April someone liked it so much the broke in and took it.  Left the wiring intact.  Don't want to put that much $$ into it again since I still live in the same area.  Wondered if I could buy one from Wal-Mart and install myself.  How do I secure it in?  Will it plug into the existing wiring OK?  Or do I need to take it to another shop and pay $$$$$ again?

Hello Sheila,
If the factory wire harness is still intact, you can purchase adapter plugs that the factory harness will plug into. The adapter will have all the wires marked for what they are used for, all you have to do now is to match up the wires from any aftermarket stereo of your choice to the wires on the adapter plug. The wires that you will need to match up would be, speakers left & right-front & rear, power and ground. You may also need a plastic dash install kit for your car that fits the new radio. Please feel free to ask me for tech help if you need it for installing your new radio.

Answer
Sheila,
To secure the new stereo you will need a stereo with a sleeve that you bend mounting tabs up and down in the existing cut out. All you do now is to slide the new stereo into the sleeve and it will lock into place. Most new stereos will come with mounting instructions.
