Audio Systems: honda 2000 factory stereo, portable cd players, honda 2000

hi my mom has a 2000 honda accord with a tape deck. she has one of those portable cd players with the car hook up in it. and when she goes to put it in, the deck just clicks and tries to play it but all it does is keep switching from side to side(the arrow points up and down) then it ejects the car hook up piece. i tried using other car hook up pieces but the same thing happens, what do i do, i tried cleaning the deck.

Try playing a music tape to see if it plays. If this also clicks back and forth, the problem may be that the belt that drives the spindles is broken. On some tape decks both spindles need to turn when playing a tape, these tape adapters will not allow both spindles to turn and the control computer will sense this and switch the deck from foward to reverse and so on. First try playing a music tape to see if the deck is working or not.
