Audio Systems: stereo installation, sony xplod, aiwa cd

Question
I have a 86 volvo 740 and I have aiwa cd reciever that I would like to install in the along with new speakers, the old wiring I am not so sure about,I would like to start from scratch and run all new wiring all through,Where would be the best places to atach the power wire, battery?fuse box, if so,Where? and  ground wire and I would like to run new speaker wire as well, what would you think on how to run new wire from the doors to the unit, what would be the best route to run the new wires?, I would like for this to be a very direct and simple installation with maximum power efficiency,What grade and guage of speaker wire make for a great sounding system?, the sterio is 45x4ch ,this is a aiwa so I am not sure how effecient the power is,could you give me a opinion on the quality of power to sound that aiwa produces I have a alpine also and it is very pure on power efficience,I will be using 5 1/4 in the front doors and 4x6 in rear doors, these are infinity reference series so I want them to be at optimum sound even at high volumes. This last part is just to inform you of the equipment that will be used, Thanks

Answer
Michael,

Aiwa is a pretty good unit i personally recommend and use sony xplod just because of the value/performance ratio .. alpine is a very nice brand but pricey.. ok if you do decide to rip and reinstall all the wiring it starts a good foundation for future upgrades.. first thing is to bypass all the factory wires you wont use any of it except the 12volt ignition/accessory wire which turns your head unit/amps ect.. on you will need a wire diagram to sort out this wire to tap into when you do the install i will give you a link on down here.. now the power will come directly from the battery but pass it through a 30 amp inline fuse .. the ground should come from your unibody or frame.. as for gauges i good 12 gauge is good for the head unit and i would use 14 for the speakers... now if you can take the seats out and run all your wires under your carpet or follow the factory wiring use cable ties ect.. to keep everything secure.. now if you plan on installing subs you will want to use a higher gauge power and ground wires or a gauge that follows the wattage of the amp i will include a personal site with some good speaker and amp info and wiring.. lets get back to the speakers... infinity is a good brand but it is spendy.. they offer a good sound through out the volume range but dont expect to have your bass cranked up on the speakers and the vol knob broke off on high and have clear sound ... if you want good highs and mids .. and some hard hitting bass to back it up you should install a sub and amp.. here are the sites
