Audio Systems: remote wire on 2004 gmc sierra, gmc sierra, stereo unit

hello My name is Noe

I am trying to install an amp in my truck.  I have power, ground, and input wires all installed. The only wire I cant find is the remote turn on.  the factroy wiring harness that goes to my stereo feeds directly into my car's computer.  Since I don't  want to mess with the computer I figured I would tap into the ignition switch.  I have not done this step yet though.  Is this a good Idea? or is there another way to wire the remote turn on for the amp?

it sounds like your trying to install the amp in a car with a factory stereo ? .. this normally isnt recommended but it can be done here are some links the first is my link which has a downloadable GM general wire schematic and some other useful info when you wire in subs.. the other is a site that has the wire color codes 2000-2004 sirerras are the same as a silverado i think you could even go back to 98 or 99 but this should tell you the igniton color just tap into it on the harness at the stereo unit and there you go
