Audio Systems: something is wrong with my car stereo system, car stereo system, fuse block

Question
I have tape/tuner system in my car. It always worked properly, then I had to quit using my car for about 6 months. The car was find, I just had to jump start the battery. But the stereo doesn't work anymore. You just see FM 88.3 on the screen and that's it. No sound, you can't change what you see on the scree, it's just frozen. The only thing you can do is turning the power on and off. And also put a tape in and out but you can't listening the tape anyway.

Answer
Fabrice,

check your fuse block pull each and every fuse out one at a time .. check ALL fuses not just radio related fuses.. i'm fairly sure you should find the problem there but if not the other 2 are more expensive.. alot of times when a car is jumped using cables and sometimes even with a charger it can send a surge that can either blow a fuse or.. blow the unit *this would explain the froze display* also when a car sits alot of the elements that arent present when you drive it such as moisture can really damage the internal components.. if you cant find the problem in the fuse.. more than likly you will have to swap out the unit with one like it or a new aftermarket unit.. hope this helps you out if you need anything else let me know

thanks
