Audio Systems: Power/Volume Switch Problems, dodge caravan, volume switch

Question
I have a 2001 Dodge Caravan and I am having problems with the factory installed stereo, the power/volume switch on the stereo.  The in/out on/off power function and turning the volume UP work fine.  The problem is when the volume is turned DOWN.  When the volume is turned down one notch, power is lost and then returned.
The problem is even worse when a CD is playing.  Because power is lost when the volume is turned down, the CD always starts over.
I have taken the switch out of the radio, but I don't know how to test it or how to get a replacement.

One aditional note:  I think it is a separate problem, but the bass and treble adjustments don't work at all.

Any advice is more than welcome.

Please contact me direct for more info about your stereo, also give me the model number. As for repair parts unless you are an authorized repair center you may not be able to purchase repair parts.
