Audio Systems: Subwoofer Enclosure, bandpass boxes, port holes

Question
I'm interested in getting a bandpass box for my subs. Is it true the more port holes there are the better? Some are sold with either two or four. Thanks.

Answer
Marcos,

it all depends on the subs, you want to choose a set of subs that are specifically made for bandpass boxes.. i have never heard a claim that the more ports the better you actually need some air resistance to create the sound so to much free flow and you will have a dud .. now in most buy it now bandpass boxes the extra ports are for looks most arent the same size as the 2 larger ports so it keeps about the same air flow.. the key to a good sounding box is picking a speaker that matches the cubid feet of air in the chamber and the design for the box.. here is the website i buy most all of my products from www.etronics.com
surf around and see what you like most sites wont give you exact specs so to track down a good sub for your box look at the manufactors website I.E. sony ect.. and check their specs also crutchfield usually has good product information but they are often pricey.. hope this helps you out if you need anything else let me know

thanks
